Summary: Installation and troubleshooting of low voltage systems by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Install, service and repair of Intrusion, Fire, Video and Access systems in both residential and commercial locations per scope of work while adhering to local and national fire, electrical and building codes to ensure safe and proper installation of systems and devices. *
  2. Installation of low voltage cabling, devices and system terminations for Fire, Intrusion, Access and Video Systems. *
  3. Performs required work as per customer installation and repair orders to include running wire, connecting circuits and mounting equipment to networks daily. *
  4. Maintains operation of equipment after installation and answers customer inquiries when needed. *
  5. Performs testing of equipment after installation process to assure proper operation. *
  6. Train customers on proper usage and care of installed equipment. *
  7. Answers and responds to customer inquiries in an efficient manner. *
  8. Documentation of system wiring, sensor location and programming. *
  9. Complete service orders of work performed, and equipment used. *
  10. Adheres to safety guidelines and requirements to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris. *
  11. Will be required to be available by telephone after hours during the week and all day on the weekend through an On Call rotation. *
  12. Must have strong communication skills and must be professional, well presented, customer focused and provide excellent customer service. *
  13. Communication with customer and schedule coordinator during the installation process regarding job status, schedule changes, delays. *
  14. Maintains and submits accurate service tickets, system functionality tests and documentation as required. *
  15. Ability to work under general supervision and independently.
  16. Must be available to travel, as needed.
  17. Must have reliable transportation. *
  18. Must have basic hand tools. *
  19. Must be able to work earlier or later as needed. *
  20. Demonstrates the ability to drive a company vehicle safely. *
  21. Ability to climb ladders and enter some confined spaces. *
  22. Meet with prospective customers to assess their needs.
  23. Provide technical sales support to customers.  Verifies equipment requirements, system design and configuration.  Verifies all labor and equipment costs associated with system projects and provides information to the appropriate personnel.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

2+ years Video, Intrusion, Fire and Access Control installation experience highly preferred but not required. IP video and IT experience preferred.

OSHA 10 Certification a plus

Scissor and Boom Lift Certification a plus

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission

proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and internet software.

Special Skills:

Ability to use and read a voltage/amp meter Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints

Certificates and Licenses:

Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license
